Humana Military will be seeking two BC Neonatologists to provide comprehensive Neonatologist services in the Level II NICU, Mother Baby Unit and Labor & Delivery Unit at Naval Medical Center, Camp Lejeune, NC.  

 

The Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune is located in southeastern North Carolina close to Jacksonville.  It is near Oslow Beach and waterways like the New River, to support an active, outdoor lifestyle, while still offering a slower pace of life than larger metro areas. Beyond base recreation, residents can explore local parks, memorials, beaches (Topsail Island, Emerald Isle), golf courses, and museums in the Jacksonville area. Compared to many coastal or military-adjacent areas, housing and everyday expenses around Jacksonville are relatively affordable. 

 

Work Hours: 7 on / 7 off.  Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm; Saturday / Sunday 7am - 11am

Telephonic Call starts Monday 7am until following Monday 7am

Additional 4 weeks of service may be required for military Neonatologist coverage

Qualifications include:

BC MD/DO

Completion of accredited residency program in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine

Active, unrestricted license in any of the 50 States or U.S. Territories

BLS, NRP, PALS, STABLE. 

1-YR Clinical Experience within the past two years

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include but not limited to a full range of Neonatologist services in accordance with privileges granted by the Military Treatment Facility Director:
  • Provide comprehensive medical assessment, examination, consultation, diagnosis, and treatment plans for neonates.
  • Provide medical management of neonates to include neonatal resuscitation, conventional ventilation, stabilization and maintenance of Level II care prior to transport, and prescription of medications including controlled substances to treat neonatal medical disorders.
  • Request and interpret laboratory tests, electrocardiograms, radiographic procedures, and other tests.
  • Determine appropriate procedures and perform procedures including sedation, endotracheal intubation, routine phlebotomy, arterial phlebotomy, percutaneous central venous line placement, umbilical line placement, lumbar puncture, suprapubic bladder taps, bladder catheterization needle thoracentesis, chet tube placement, and circumcision.
  • Attend routine and high-risk deliveries as a member of the Resuscitation Team and perform Neonatal Resuscitation.
  • Provide medical care to neonates awaiting transport to other facilities and arriving from other higher level of care NICUs.
  • Provide outpatient care for routine appointments / NICU follow-up appointments.
  • Provide clinical instruction to students and resident physicians rotating through the nursery.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • BC MD/DO - Must have completed a doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from a medical school approved by the Council of Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Hospital Association, or possess permanent certification by the Education Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or completed a Fifth Pathway Program

    Completion of accredited residency program in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine

  • Active, unrestricted license in any of the 50 States or U.S. Territories

  • AHA BLS, NRP, PALS, STABLE

  • 1-YR Clinical Experience within the past two years
